Materials Guide

Material selection defines realism, durability, and long-term performance. At Stella Dolls Studio, every product begins with careful evaluation of material composition, structural integrity, and finishing precision. Our goal is not only visual realism, but structural stability and consistent quality over time.

Silicone Construction

Our primary production material is high-grade silicone. Silicone offers superior shape retention, dimensional stability, and resistance to heat-related deformation. Compared to softer elastomer blends, silicone maintains its structural integrity under prolonged use and environmental variation.

Advantages of silicone-based construction include:

  • Stronger long-term shape retention
  • Greater resistance to compression and permanent deformation
  • Lower surface oil migration
  • More stable texture over time
  • Improved durability in articulated areas

Silicone also allows precise surface detailing, enabling refined skin textures and realistic contours through high-accuracy mold fabrication.

TPE Material Overview

Thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) is an alternative material commonly used in the industry. TPE typically offers a softer initial touch and greater elasticity, making it appealing for certain preferences.

However, TPE generally requires more attentive maintenance and is more sensitive to heat exposure and oil absorption. It may also show greater long-term deformation compared to silicone-based structures.

For clients prioritizing long-term durability and structural consistency, silicone remains the preferred choice.

Internal Structural Framework

Beneath the external material, each Stella doll is supported by an articulated internal metal skeleton. This framework is designed to provide:

  • Stable joint articulation
  • Balanced weight distribution
  • Reinforced stress points in high-movement areas
  • Controlled posing capability

Joint systems are engineered to reduce internal stress concentration and maintain stability during repositioning. This internal structure plays a critical role in preserving the external form and surface quality over extended use.

Safety Considerations

Our material formulations are designed for non-hazardous use under normal conditions. Silicone-based materials are generally stable and do not emit harmful substances during standard use.

We recommend regular cleaning and proper storage practices to maintain hygiene and surface longevity. For full maintenance guidelines, please refer to our Care & Maintenance Guide.

Longevity & Performance

With proper care, silicone-based structures can maintain their form and surface quality for many years. Long-term performance depends on:

  • Storage conditions
  • Environmental temperature
  • Handling practices
  • Maintenance frequency

Material choice is one of the most significant factors influencing lifespan. For clients seeking structural reliability and long-term consistency, silicone construction provides a stable foundation.

At Stella Dolls Studio, material selection is not driven by cost alone. It is guided by structural performance, long-term stability, and the pursuit of refined realism.
